Correlation of blood levels of HCV RNA and levels of IFN-α secreted per pDC from individual HCV-infected donors (n = 15). The amount of IFN-α secreted by 1 × 10⁶ cells cultured for 48 hrs with A-Class (black symbols) or C-Class (white symbols) CpG (6 μg/ml) was divided by the number of pDC (lineage negative, CD11c negative, HLA-DR+ and BDCA4+), counted among 50,000 events by flow cytometry and plotted against HCV RNA levels for the same subjects.
